Online Program Orientation
Virtual Orientation is mandatory
Web-based orientation is a required component of these Utica University programs:
- Post-Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy - online program
- Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) - hybrid program
Utica's virtual orientation provides unique, powerful opportunities to collaborate with faculty and peers, and acquire and implement new knowledge. You will engage with accomplished faculty who are leaders in their fields and draw upon the academic and professional experiences of your peers. You’ll collaborate and build a strong learning community - a factor that can help strengthen and maintain motivation so that you’ll continue moving toward your degree.
Program-specific information:
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)
All incoming students in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program are required to attend a mandatory orientation. The orientation is designed to help students transition into the program and includes important information about academic expectations, clinical requirements, and student support resources.
If you are entering the ABSN program, here's what you need to know about orientation:
- Our ABSN program admits three cohorts per year.
- Orientation dates are scheduled by the program based on each cohort’s start term.
- Once a student is accepted into the program, the Admissions team will provide detailed orientation information well in advance of the start date.
Orientation is a key component of preparing for success in the ABSN program, and participation is required for all new students.
Post-Professional Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (PPtDPT)
In addition to the valuable interactions with renowned faculty, hand-picked staff, and your peers, each orientation student is provided with a virtual welcome from many of the University's administrators, an opportunity to engage with the PPtDPT faculty, and instruction in small groups to prepare to launch into your new educational journey.

Important: Please make sure you have the following completed BEFORE you begin orientation:
- Activate your Utica University Email, Banner Web/network accounts - use this form
- Register for courses
You should register for PHT 701. You will also be prompted to add PHT 995, which is simply a place-holder for orientation. It is not an additional course. Remember, you will need full payment, a valid FAFSA on file at Utica, or veterans benefits in place at time of registration. - Log in to Moodle
Moodle is Utica University's learning management system and where you will find your course content. You will not be able to activate your Moodle account until you have successfully registered for your first course. Shortly after you are registered (typically within 1 hour) you will receive an auto-generated e-mail to your Utica University email account. If you don't, be sure to check your SPAM folder. Your log-in information for Moodle is the same as your Utica email username and password.
If you do not see your courses in Moodle, chances are you have a payment discrepancy. Please visit the secure online payment site to make payment.
